Bongo Beat: Cowinkydink? We Think So jokes about the bizarre psychic energy that has taken hold of Bongo Comics. Lest there be any doubt, we far prefer the ramblings of Mr. Groening in older issues.

This issue also notes that The Simpsons are the recipient of a Peabody Award, for being a show which for eight seasons has "offered biting satire as social commentary", noting that the show "still delivers humor and insight, on many levels, for audiences of all ages."

Note that this is the only version without a UPC code on the lower left which is present for both the "Direct Edition" and non-"Direct Edition" printings. The printed cover signatures on the non-variant cover (Groening, Morrison, Kane) are on the lower right, black on the gray background, but on this cover they appear where the UPC normally appears on the lower left, white on the black background.

Bongo Beat "Sing a Song of Simpsons Stuff" discusses Simpsons merchandise about to be released including the first release of Simpsons video tapes for Season 1, the release of "The Simpsons: A Complete Guide To Our Favorite Family", and the CD-ROM "Virtual Springfield". It then discusses the contest to win a Simpson House and the upcoming season premiere.

Bongo Beat: To Live and Die at Bongo! discusses the acquisition of an ant farm and the inevitable demise of the ants.

A Tale of Two Houses discusses how the winning number announced during the series premiere for The Simpsons House was never claimed, so a second drawing in November resulted in the house being won by Barbara Howard of Richmond, Kentucky. Alas, unable to move, she took the $75,000 substitute prize. The house, located at 714 Red Bark Lane in Henderson, Nevada, was repainted and sold.

The dictionary story would have a follow-up item in Simpsons Comics #60.
