From 1977 to 1982 Hostess worked with writers to produce one page comics promoting Hostess
products, including the comics Aquaman, Batgirl, Batman, Captain America,
Captain Marvel, Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, The Hulk, Iron Man,
The Joker, Penguin, Shazam!, Spider-Man, Superman and Wonder Woman. The story above
Radioactive Man and Fallout Boy in Catch of the Day parodies that tradition.
Instead of Hostess Fruit Pies or Cup Cakes we have Krusty Snak Kakes, which they manage to
mention in all four panels of this four panel comic. Thought for sure I would find a specific
advertisement they took this from, but failing that the writers perhaps improved upon the idea
by doing an excellent job capturing the essence of the Hostess ads.

Note:
The stories are the same as Simpsons Comics #50 US and CAN editions. The cover has different artwork, which is the same as the ads that appeared in earlier Simpsons comics about the 50th issue. This comic also comes bagged with a Bart Simpson Pez dispenser.

Many would recognize the parody in the title of this flip cover It's a Duff Duff Duff Duff Duff World
to the famous movie It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World but fewer may realize the mirroring of one of
the posters designed by Diener-Hauser and drawn by Jack Davis released with that movie.
The premise of this 1963 Stanley Kramer movie involves a madcap cross-country race to
find $350,000, paralleled by hundreds of Barney's chasing Homer for his Duff in the
illustration by Scott Shaw! and Tim Bavington.
