Simpsons Comics #102 Donald Duck #159

Kudos to contributor Charles T. Smith, who identified the original source of this cover, Donald Duck #159 from August 1947, drawn by Carl Buettner. The original story, Ghost in the Grotto, retitled on the Simpsons cover to "The Battle for the Barks Billions!", was written and drawn by Disney artist Carl Barks. Note the precise positioning of all the parallel elements, from the identical lamp on the lower left, the location of the coins and the design of the chest. Yet another Carl Barks homage appears with the cover of Free Comic Book Day 2011.
