Simpsons Comics #200 (Mar 2013)
Bongo celebrates its 20th year and landmark 200th issue of Simpsons Comics with an extra-special, supersized story about (what else?) the bicentennial celebration of the history of Springfield. Witness the heretofore untold and influential past of the town that's affectionately become known as "America's crudbucket," and find out from tales of its fantastic forefathers to its civil war to its fight for civil rights why the worst city in the country is also its funniest! And, as they say...much, much more!

Marge hosts a dinner party with murder on the menu. That is, she's hosting a murder mystery dinner party -- but one of her guests may very have murder on his or her mind! Well, she didn't necessarily invite the would-be murderer to the party, that might make her an accessory to the crime, but you get the picture!

The front cover kicks off this MAD issue, with Homer wearing a
"What Me, Worry?" T-shirt (partially obscured by the hand of the lawyer)
and sporting an Alfred E. Neuman smile and freckles. The lead story then includes
many MAD elements, with Alfred E. Neuman appearing in the last panel. The flip
cover leads off a entire MAD Magazine parody, leveraging MAD Magazine fonts for the
D'OH! title, the word Cheap appearing next to the price on both covers
and the usual In this issue... lead in that appeared on many MAD
covers. Better still, however, the parody doesn't stop there;
the comic within mirrors a MAD Magazine in style, characters and
substance, with all the classic incongruous background elements in the scenes.
The first of many MAD magazine Star Trek covers appears on the right,
MAD #186 from October 1976. Note Homer on the left in Kirk's uniform, Vulcan
Lisa on the right in Spock's uniform, and even Alfred E. Newman's red shirt is
mirrored in the red wall behind them. Need we note that this is a parody of a parody?
