Retail Albums
There are currently four Simpsons albums. The first, entitled
The
Simpsons Sing the Blues, was released on December 4, 1990 (and
re-issued March 26, 1996 on the Geffen Goldline label).
As a follow-up to this release,
The Yellow Album
was recorded in 1992, but postponed for six years. Its long-awaited
release made it the third Simpsons album on November 24, 1998. No
explanation was ever provided by Geffen Records for the delay.
The second album was a compilation of music from the TV series, released
on March 18, 1997 as
Songs in the
Key of Springfield: Original Music From The Television Series
(and re-issued on October 19, 1999 in a special box featuring a deluxe
jigsaw puzzle). Finally, the fourth album,
Go Simpsonic
With The Simpsons: More Original Music From The Television
Series, was released on November 2, 1999 as a follow-up to
Songs in the Key of Springfield, after three scheduling
postponements.
Rhino also provides web sites for the
Songs
in the Key of Springfield and
Go
Simpsonic albums.
Previously, Rhino Records confirmed that it was discussing a fifth album
with 20th Century Fox to serve as a follow-up to Go
Simpsonic. As of December 2000, however, the project
reportedly has been postponed indefinitely. More information will
appear here as it becomes available.
